The HUGS Foundation is an all-volunteer group, committed to bringing recovery to families in Northeastern Ohio ~ by helping families defray the cost of residential treatment and extended care for their chemically dependent adolescent.

Dianne Vogt
Dianne is the original founder of the HUGS Foundation and has been involved in family recovery since January of 2001.

Chris Boyher
Chris is a North America Key Account Manager for PolyOne Corporation and is experienced in non-profit program development, marketing.  Chris has an opportunity to “pay-it-forward” from his own family’s recovery experience.

Sarah Jane (“Sammy”) Brickel

A community volunteer with social work background from Chagrin Falls, Sarah has an interest in chemical dependency.

Colin Toomey
Colin was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and has personally been on the frontlines to see both the disastrous effects of alcohol and drug addiction in young people and their families, along with personally seeing the transformative and positive effects that a committed and loving family can have on the recovery of young people. His passion for the HUGS mission is rooted in his own family recovery experience.

Jo Toomey

Jo has been an addictions therapist for 30 years in the Cleveland area. She is a Senior Addictions Counselor at ADDICTION RECOVERY SERVICES/UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS/CLEVELAND MEDICAL CENTER, provides parent empowerment training at NEW DIRECTIONS treatment facility, and has a private practice in Berea, Ohio.

David “Fritz” Vogt

With an MA in social work from LSU, Fritz is the Clinical Director of Power House in Gonzales, LA and family therapist at Recovery Center of Baton Rouge. He is also President of the Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Society.

Kathy Winzig
A preschool teacher and parent advocate for adolescent substance abuse/addiction and mental health issues, Kathy established and manages a drug education program for middle school parents and their children. A featured speaker in Cleveland, Washington, DC and Columbus OH, she authored a Parent Resource Packet titled Helping Parents Cope with Teen Substance Abuse for schools in her community and is an active member of the Cuyahoga County Opiate Task Force (CCOTF).

Ashley Braun-Gabelman PhD

Ashley is Assistant Professor University Hospitals of Cleveland and Clinical Psychologist in the Addiction Recovery Services at UH Case Medical Center.

Judith Majcen MA, LICDC, LSW
Judith is retired after having spent 40 years in the field of mental health and addiction treatment.
